Position
Summary
The Spa
Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the daily operations of The
Spa at Digby Pines, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, strong
financial performance, and a positive, engaged team culture.
This
position manages all spa operations including treatment services (massage, body
treatments, skincare, esthetics), retail operations, reservations, guest
reception, relaxation spaces, and facility standards. The Spa Manager plays a
key leadership role in positioning the spa as a premier wellness destination
within Nova Scotia and as an integral part of the resort experience at Digby
Pines Golf Resort & Spa.
The Spa
Manager ensures alignment with the resort’s brand standards, seasonal
programming, and luxury coastal guest experience.
Preferred
Qualifications
Education:

Diploma
or Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or Spa &
Wellness Management
·
Esthetics
or Massage Therapy certification considered an asset
Experience:
·
Minimum
2–3 years of leadership experience in a resort spa, boutique spa, or hotel spa
environment
·
Experience
managing budgets, payroll, and retail operations
Other
Requirements:
·
Strong
understanding of spa service protocols and guest journey design
·
Knowledge
of health & safety standards in Nova Scotia
·
CPR/First
Aid Certification preferred
1.
Managing Spa Operations
·
Oversee
daily operations of The Spa at Digby Pines, including treatment rooms,
relaxation areas, reception, and retail space.
·
Ensure
a tranquil, luxurious, and impeccably maintained spa environment reflective of
the coastal elegance of Digby Pines.
·
Maintain
treatment quality standards and service consistency.
·
Oversee
scheduling of therapists and estheticians to maximize productivity and guest
satisfaction.
·
Ensure
sanitation, hygiene, and provincial regulatory compliance are consistently met.
·
Collaborate
with other resort departments (Front Office, Golf, Food & Beverage) to
create integrated guest experiences and wellness packages.
2.
Financial & Budget Management
·
Develop
and manage the annual spa operating budget.
·
Monitor
revenue performance including treatments, retail sales, packages, and
promotions.
·
Manage
payroll to align with seasonal occupancy fluctuations.
·
Control
operating expenses including linens, professional products, guest amenities,
and supplies.
·
Analyze
monthly P&L statements and implement strategies to improve profitability.
·
Develop
seasonal spa offerings aligned with resort occupancy trends (summer peak
season, fall retreats, wedding groups, etc.).
3.
Sales, Marketing & Revenue Growth
·
Partner
with Sales & Marketing to promote spa services as part of resort packages,
wedding offerings, golf retreats, and group bookings.
·
Develop
seasonal promotions inspired by the natural beauty of Nova Scotia (e.g.,
coastal relaxation rituals, autumn wellness retreats).
·
Oversee
retail product selection, merchandising, and inventory management.
·
Identify
new service offerings and product enhancements to maintain competitiveness
within the regional spa market.
·
Leverage
social media and website collaboration to enhance spa visibility.
·
Build
relationships within the Digby community to encourage local membership and
repeat business.
·
Champion
a culture of personalized, intuitive, and memorable guest service.
·
Address
guest concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring service recovery
excellence.
·
Review
guest feedback (online reviews, comment cards, surveys) and implement
improvement initiatives.
·
Empower
team members to exceed guest expectations.
·
Ensure
each guest’s spa journey—from reservation to post-treatment follow-up—is
seamless and restorative.
5.
Leadership & Human Resources
·
Recruit,
hire, and onboard spa team members aligned with Digby Pines service culture.
·
Develop
structured training and onboarding programs for therapists and spa associates.
·
Conduct
regular performance reviews and coaching sessions.
·
Foster
a collaborative, respectful, and motivating team environment.
·
Schedule
regular team meetings to communicate business objectives and celebrate
successes.
·
Maintain
open-door communication and encourage employee engagement.

Support
professional development and continuing education.
6.
Health, Safety & Compliance
·
Ensure
compliance with Nova Scotia Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
·
Maintain
sanitation and infection prevention standards in treatment rooms and common
areas.

Conduct
risk assessments and safety training for all spa associates.
·
Ensure
emergency procedures and fire safety protocols are understood and practiced.
·
Maintain
proper handling and storage of professional spa products and chemicals.
7.
Retail & Inventory Management
·
Select
and manage vendor relationships for professional spa and retail products.
·
Monitor
inventory levels and conduct regular stock audits.
·
Design
retail displays that enhance guest experience and drive sales.
·
Train
team members on retail recommendation techniques.
·
Track
retail performance and implement sales improvement strategies.
